2015 Fall Festival Community Meeting

The North Madison County Excel By 5 Coalition held a Fall Festival Community Meeting on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at the Friends of Children Childcare center in Flora, MS. Over 90 parents and children attended. The Parents were excited to receive the Pre-Kindergarten Assessment tools and the children participated in a Halloween costume contest. Read More

4th Annual Health Fair & Back to School Event

child coloringThe North Madison County Excel By 5 Coalition hosted the 4th annual Health Fair & Back to School event on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at St. Paul AME Zion Church in Canton, Miss. The successful event allowed families from Canton and North Madison County to receive information on the importance of early childhood education and reading to their young children prior to entering kindergarten, healthy eating and hygiene habits, planning for their children’s financial future and fun face painting and games. Read More

New Location for the Early Childcare Resource and Referral Center

With the renovation of the historic Old Madison County C o u r t h o u s e located on the square in Canton, the MSU Extension Service has announced a new location for the Early Childcare Resource & Referral Center. It will move across the street to the Grand Old Post Office at 175 North Union Street in July. The resource center is a lending library for childcare providers, daycares and kindergartens and services Madison, Leake, Yazoo, Holmes and Attala Counties. The North Madison County Excel By 5 Coalition is proud to partner with MSU to provide this service for Madison County children in an effort to better prepare them for kindergarten. Read More
