Dear Friend,
Today is a great day for America’s veterans. President Trump signed the S. 2372, the VA Mission Act, into law. This bill includes significant reforms to
how our nations’ veterans receive health care. The VA Mission Act is the result of a bipartisan, bicameral effort in Congress developed with Trump
administration support.
The VA Mission Act transforms elements of the health care delivery system in the VA, provides more choice of health care providers, prevents a funding
shortfall in the current Veterans Choice Program, and consolidates duplicative programs into one cohesive program. It also includes a caregiver expansion
that creates equity between seriously injured pre-9/11 and post-9/11 veterans by allowing pre-9/11 caregivers to receive a monthly stipend and other
support.
This bill has received overwhelming support, with 38 veteran service organizations praising the measure. They
said, “[The VA Mission Act] would take a major step towards that goal by making improvements to and investments in the VA health care system, creating
integrated networks so that veterans have access to care when and where they need it, and providing the further recognition and assistance to family
caregivers of severely disabled veterans deserve.”
Today is a particularly important day to sign this piece of legislation as we observe the 74th anniversary of D-Day. That day and those that followed serve
as a critical reminder of the commitment our nation has made to our veterans who serve and sacrifice for the freedom we enjoy today.
God Bless,
Gregg Harper
Member of Congress
