Upon the request of the Joint Madison County Business League/MCEDA Health & Wellness Committee, the Madison County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on December 5, 2012, to proclaim and resolve 2012 as Healthy and Well Madison County. The proclamation encourages all citizens to participate in health activities and in the interest of better health and quality of life. The board also unanimously endorsed the Smoke Free Air Mississippi to eliminate the exposure to second hand smoke in worksites and public indoor places. Currently, the cities of Madison, Ridgeland and the town of Flora have smoke free ordinances.
