Madison County Business League & Foundation 2023 Board of Directors Election Nominees August 22, 2023 Richard “Vinny” CaputoPresident of Aerospace & Defense Services (formerly Vertex) Aerospace Solutions V2X- PLATINUM INVESTOR $3,000 President of Vertex’s Aerospace & Defense Services division. He joined Vertex in 2012 as Senior Director of Aviation Field Maintenance, Army Sustainment Division based in Huntsville, Alabama. Vinny’s other senior leadership positions within Vertex included Vice President of Operations and Senior Vice President and General Manager of Aerospace Defense Services. In 2021, he was promoted to his current position and gained responsibility for the execution of providing aviation maintenance, flight, logistic services and customer support to the Department of Defense and Other Government Agency (OGA) customers globally. Vinny retired from the U.S. Marine Corps with the rank of Colonel after 24 years of commissioned service in command and operational positions throughout the U.S. and overseas. His last military assignment was Commanding Officer of Marine Aircraft Group 24, in Kaneohe, Hawaii, where he trained and deployed operational heavy lift assault support forces and aircraft to Afghanistan and throughout the Pacific. In 1988, he earned his Naval Aviator Wings and amassed over 3,600 flight hours in various Marine Corps aircraft, including over 700 hours of combat flight time. Vinny is a veteran of operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom and the Kosovo campaign. He has served in numerous operations and aviation maintenance officer positions, including a graduate level flight and tactics instructor at Marine Aviation Weapons & Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1). At U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), he was responsible for the development of strategy for the DoD’s War on Terror campaign plan and provided leadership and oversight on numerous sensitive planning efforts and Special Technical Operations. Vinny’s military career includes several key operational roles in the Marine Corps and Unified Combatant Command, such as Commanding Officer, Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, and Deputy Plans Chief at USSOCOM. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology at Rhode Island College and holds two master degrees; one in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College and the other in military operational art and science from the Air Force Command and Staff College. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Advanced Strategic Arts Program, and Wharton Business School’s Executive Leadership Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Matt DavidsonPresidentAtmos Energy MS Division – CORNERSTONE INVESTOR $6,000 Matt Davidson assumed the role of President of the Mississippi Division on September 1, 2022. An Alabama native, Matt began his career in 2004 as an analyst in New Orleans with Atmos Energy Marketing. In that role he purchased and scheduled natural gas and ultimately led teams responsible for forecasting natural gas pipeline capacity needs. In 2011, Matt was promoted to Director of Gas Supply and was responsible for structuring and negotiating contracts with natural gas pipelines and storage facilities, in addition to leading the financial hedging program. Matt is a board member of the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership, the Mississippi Economic Council, and a graduate of Leadership Mississippi.
