Madison County Business League & Foundation Announces 2025 Legislative Agenda

The Madison County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution supporting the Madison County Business League & Foundation (MCBL&F) 2025 state legislative agenda. Prior to presentation at the board of supervisors’ meeting, these priorities were adopted by the MCEDA Board of Directors and the MCBL&F Board of Directors.

A very special thanks to the MCBL&F Government Affairs Committee, MCBL&F Executive Leadership, and Government Affairs Committee Chair Phil Buffington for their assistance in this annual process. And, to you our most supportive investors and membership.

The Madison County Board of Supervisors is taking an aggressive approach to addressing traffic congestion and has initiated engineering design of nine roadway capacity expansion and safety projects totaling over $300 million, with construction expected to be complete on all projects by 2031.

Weisenberger Road Improvement Project will widen Weisenberger Road from the current two lanes to five lanes from its intersection with Parkway East to Highway 51 to add much needed traffic capacity via four through lanes and a center turn lane as shown in Exhibit B. The project will include replacing the existing substandard two-lane bridge with a five-lane bridge that is longer than the current bridge, thus providing improved flood water conveyance. The project will also replace the existing at-grade rail crossing with Canadian National Railroad with a new/modern at-grade crossing. The estimated $20 million Weisenberger Road Improvements project is scheduled to be complete in 2030.
