Superintendent of Madison County Schools, Dr. Ronnie McGehee, was honored
at a Madison County Business League & Foundation breakfast on March 28, 2018, at the Madison County Schools District office in Ridgeland. Rep.
Cory Wilson and Senator Walter Michel presented Dr. McGehee a joint resolution on behalf of the Mississippi State Legislature. Madison County Business
League & Foundation Chairman, Phil Buffington, also presented a resolution to Dr. McGehee commending him for his outstanding impact on quality
education in Madison County during his 21 year tenure.
Whereas,the Madison County Business League & Foundation (MCBL&F) is a member-driven organization of over two hundred twenty business
leaders and decision makers in the Madison County and Metro Jackson Area whose mission is to unite with elected officials on all levels of government
to speak with one voice on matters of economic development and quality of life; and to serve as stakeholders for the Madison County Economic Development
Authority; and
Whereas, the mission of MCBL&F is to support MCEDA in their efforts to assist existing businesses and to attract new investments and
higher paying jobs to Madison County in an effort to increase the tax base and improve the quality of life and economic wealth of our citizens; and
Whereas, Dr. Ronnie L. McGehee, Ph.D has announced his intent to step down as the Superintendent of the Madison County School District
effective June 30, 2018; and
Whereas, Dr. McGehee began his career with the Madison County School District in 1997; and
Whereas, Dr. McGehee has served the Madison County School District as Assistant Principal of Madison Central High School from 1997-2000,
Principal of Madison Central High School from January 2000-July 2000, Deputy Superintendent of the Madison County School District from July, 2000 –
September, 2011 and Superintendent from September 2011 to date; and
Whereas, during the course of his service, Dr. McGehee led the planning, design, location and construction of a building program throughout
the District that has resulted in the construction of facilities in all attendance zones totaling in excess of $500 million; and
Whereas, Dr. McGehee has implemented programs to enhance technology throughout the District such as installing WiFi service in all 23
school locations and initiating the 1:M Digital Program which provides hands on learning hardware to all students in grades 8-12; and
Whereas, Dr. McGehee was instrumental in the purchase of a new facility which houses the Central Office and provides a showplace for the
Madison County School District; and
Whereas, Dr. McGehee has led the effort to plan, develop, implement and improve learning throughout the District which has resulted in
the achievement of an “A” rating in 2013 and continuing thorough today; and
Whereas, Dr. McGehee has provided a voice for the Madison County School District with respect to legislative developments and how such
developments impact the strength and financial stability of the District; and
Whereas, as evidenced by all of the above, Dr. McGehee has devoted countless hours to the Madison County School District which have resulted
in immeasurable benefits to the District and all of its Faculty, Staff, Administration, Parents and, most importantly, its Students.
Now Therefore, Be It Resolved, by unanimous decision, that the Madison County Business League & Foundation hereby honor, congratulate
and thank Dr. Ronnie L. McGehee for his constant commitment, dedication, support and advancement of the Madison County School District and wish him
well in all his future endeavors.
