Member Spotlight: Barnett Phillips Lumber

Barnett Phillips LumberFounded
in 1954, Mr. Barnett Phillips and his wife Virginia envisioned a “one stop building supply store” to service the needs of the growing number of homebuilders
in the Canton, MS area. Mr. Phillips knew that, in order to be successful, outstanding customer service must be paramount. A site was selected adjacent
to the railroad in order to facilitate bulk material shipments from railcars. This vision is what led to the current Barnett Phillips Lumber Co.

In 1971, Mr. Phillips brought in his son-in-law, Ken Morris, to groom for the future success of the business. The company continued to experience growth
in the 1980’s and 90’s with the rapid growth in Madison County. During this time period, Barnett Phillips Lumber supplied building materials for a
multitude of homes in the growing communities of Ridgeland and Madison.

Today, under Mr. Morris’s leadership, the company supplies materials not only in Canton and Madison County, but also Rankin, Hinds, Yazoo, Leake, Holmes,
Neshoba, and Attala counties. Barnett Phillips Lumber continues to be a locally owned family business offering a full line of building materials, home
improvement products, and hardware. The company continues to pride itself on offering superior service in order to build strong customer relationships.
Some long term customers have been doing business with the company in excess of 40 years.
