CANTON, Miss., February 8, 2016 ─ On January 14, 2016, Merit Health
Madison held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new medical office building, designed to include primary care, obstetrics/gynecology and orthopedics
among other medical specialties. The building will also include an outpatient physical rehabilitation clinic, to incorporate occupational health and
speech pathology therapy services.

Merit Health Madison partnered with construction firm Brasfield & Gorrie, medical real estate developer Capital Growth Medvest and architectural firm
Goodwyn Mills Cawood on the development of the new $9 million, 35,000 sq. foot location.
“Our new medical office building is within walking distance to our hospital and will bring jobs, additional service lines and access to
more convenient, quality care for Madison County residents,” said Brit Phelps, CEO, Merit Health Madison.
Presenters during the groundbreaking ceremony included Mississippi Governor, Phil Bryant; Mayor of Canton and Merit Health Madison Board Member, Arnel
Bolden; Merit Health Madison CEO, Brit Phelps; and Madison County Economic Development Authority Executive Director, Tim Coursey. Approximately 250
local leaders and members of Merit Health Madison’s medical staff and hospital employees were also in attendance.
“Madison County is undergoing exponential growth and as the sole hospital in the county, we are committed to providing the services our
communities and neighboring counties need to have an excellent healthcare experience close to home,” said Phelps.
Merit Health Madison just received the 2015 Vision Award from the Madison County Business League and Foundation and Madison County Economic Development
Authority. The hospital also recently earned “Hospital of the Year” (facilities under 100 beds) by the Mississippi Nurses Association and “Best Place
to Work” and provider of “Best Health Services” by the Canton Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Best of Canton Community Poll.
