The Guest Column: A Peaceful Transfer of Power

Dear Friend,

Today, President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris took the oath of office to serve our nation in the White House. I believe Senator Roy Blunt,
Chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, summed up the importance of this day when he referenced President Ronald
Reagan’s description of the inauguration as “commonplace and miraculous.” Senator Blunt goes on to say it is, “commonplace because we have done
it every four years since 1789, and miraculous because we have done it every four years since 1789.”

I would like to thank the many law enforcement agents and members of our military who ensured safety at today’s events. Our nation is grateful
for the service they carry out every day.

Now, it is important we return to the job at hand. Although there is a new administration in the White House, we still owe it to the American
people to govern. I am ready to address the issues facing our nation with sound policy and fiscal responsibility, and I will continue to fight
for our Mississippi conservative values in Congress.

I join my colleagues in prayer for President Biden’s new administration and in thanks for President Trump’s service to our nation.

Sincerely,
