CAVS-E in Action
CAVS-E Responds to COVID-19 with Online Classes
More teaching is now being done remotely and on digital platforms due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As universities across the nation made the decision
to switch to online instruction and convert their face-to-face teaching to virtual classes, some instructors and professors have ventured into
virtual education for the first time. CAVS-E also offered some of its classes online, with the most recent courses being AutoCAD and the Lean
Manufacturing Certificate program.
CAVS-Extension Employee Spotlight MEET…
GLENN DENNIS
Director
Glenn assumed his role as director in 2017, but is no stranger to CAVS-E and the manufacturing industry. Working in the industry for over
30 years, he joined the department in 2003 as a Research Engineer and was later promoted to the Associate Director’s position. As the
Director, Glenn oversees people, finances, projects, and project impact data for the department and for projects falling under the
Manufacturing Extension Partnership. Glenn strives to ensure that each CAVS-E team member is in the right position and working on the
right project in order to maximize the potential success of each project and of the department.
While enjoying his current role, Glenn values the unique position of CAVS-E and working to make the jobs of manufacturers easier and more
efficient. “Our clients define success for us,” he states. “When they tell us they are more productive and can produce parts more easily
when we leave than before we arrived, we have been successful.” During the years Glenn has been with CAVS-E, he says his favorite development
is what he considers to have been a once-in-a-lifetime project with a company that impacted so many people and saved many lives.
Not only does Glenn takes his work responsibilities seriously, he always tries to do a good job at everything he does and to be a good
Christian, son, husband, and father. His family’s favorite travel spot is Destin, FL, but he also likes to spend his time fishing,
planting food plots for wildlife, and riding his tractors.
